Rough Week, Good Scriptures

This week has been pretty rough. Like, really rough. I've never been so overwhelmed in my life, to be honest. It's looking like I have an opportunity to really build my resume, as I just got a promotion. You'd think getting a promotion would be a good thing, right? It is, but there are SO many challenges that have come and will continue to come, I'm sure. I'll explain more in a later post.

But, tonight I attended institute. It is sometimes a sacrifice to go, but it is so good to be spiritually uplifted. Tonight we studied about the brother of Jared. I actually found so much that applies to my life. It was awesome.

I was particularly touched by Ether 3:4 & 5: "And I know, O Lord, that thou hast all power, and can do whatsoever thou wilt for the benefit of man..." "we know that thou art able to show forth great power, which looks small unto the understanding of men."

I really liked those passages. Just thought I'd share.

Change

I thought I handled change well, until recently there have been a lot of changes around me and in my life. Just before leaving work today, I learned that my boss (the one I've been an assistant to) was laid off (I later learned she was actually fired). They are not replacing her. I am completely and utterly shocked. I'm not sure what this means for me, but I guess I will find out in the coming days and weeks. Prayers would be helpful at this time. I do know I will have more responsibilities which will probably turn out to be a good thing in the end, but right now I am completely overwhelmed. And, I am so sad that today someone had to go home to their family without a job. I nearly feel like it was me that lost my job. Really, I am so shocked and saddened. I was just getting into the groove of things and my boss and I got along really well. It goes to show that life can change in an instant.

Also, yesterday, the first counselor in our RS Presidency was released. She recently got engaged and will be getting married soon. I'm happy for her, but it is sad to see her go. We've grown as we've come together as a presidency in the past few months.

Boy, just since the end of last year my life has changed a lot! A new job, new calling, new car (which now means I have car payments, insurance payments, and have to pay for gas.. and that is a BIG change for me!)... etc.

Who knows what the coming months will bring. I'm glad my Heavenly Father does! I'm definitely going to need to rely on Him to help me as I continue to experience change in my life. I guess as they say, "Nothing is as constant as change."

Spring!

Nothing makes me happier than to see flowers popping up after a long winter!

Come Listen

I don't know about you, but I am pretty excited for General Conference next weekend! I love this quote by President Uchtdorf: "There are messages in each general conference given as a gift and a blessing from heaven specifically for our personal life situations."

Who doesn't need that in their life?

P.S. I'm also looking forward to my mission reunion next weekend!

Full-time!!!

The past couple of days have been filled with so many blessings! Yes, I got a car. That in and of itself is a huge blessing.

Then, today my boss called me in and said, "would you like to go full-time?" Umm, yeah! I nearly started crying! I've been praying for this. I've been wondering what I was going to do.(the timing on this couldn't have been any better. I now have car payments.) The benefits will come next, hopefully. We discussed that as well and it's looking like a good possibility.

It's interesting because just a few hours before this happened I got a text from Mom. She suggested that I tell them that I'd like to go full-time. I told her I would if I felt there was a good time to. But, my boss beat me to it.

The past couple of days have strengthened my testimony that God is aware of us. He knows our needs. He hears our prayers. The blessings come do eventually come.

My First Car!

As I was getting on the train after work tonight I got a call from my brother, Chad. He suggested that we go car shopping. Now, I have known for quite some time now that I've needed a car...really bad (a lot of people are quite impressed that I've managed to live without one this long). I've been saving up for one as well. It is a big decision. I had kind of planned on just buying a car in the $1,000 range, so I could have something to get me from point A to point B and not have car payments. Well, Chad convinced me of the benefits of buying a newer car. So, I agreed to look and he and Buffy picked me up from the bus stop and off we went. It was all so surreal. We looked at two places. I test drove a Ford Focus at the first place and felt pretty good about it. I also test drove a Ford Focus at the second dealership. This one rode smoother and had less miles and new tires, but was a bit more expensive. I was skeptical that I'd be able to get financed for it, but I did! It's a 2006 with 66,000 miles on it. I drove it away and can't believe it is mine! This changes my life so much! It shaves about an hour off of my day as I don't have to ride trax and the bus anymore! Finally! I'm not looking forward to having car payments, but you do what you've got to do. This was a big decision for me and I was skeptical about it, but I know it will be a good thing for me. Hooray for having a car! This has been a long time coming... I'm almost 26!

Recently

I had today off, which was amazing. I got to sleep in a little, headed to the temple and then did a little shopping. The weather was nice as well, so it was a pretty good day. Side note- nothing makes me happier than to see tulips starting to make their way up after a long winter. :)

Over the weekend we celebrated Christi's birthday. We had dinner at The Cheesecake Factory and saw "The Lorax" (my second time). Before the movie though, we stopped in a ghetto outlet mall in Draper. That's where I took the silly "wow" pictures. :) There was a boxing match going on there while we were there. Exciting times.

Chad and Buffy gave Christi "cold hard cash" for her birthday (see picture). Ha ha!

The RS Retreat in Heber on Friday and Saturday was really good. It was great to hear from the stake RS Presidency. It really helped me re-group and re-focus some things in my life.

So, that's what I've been up to in recent days! Stay tuned for more to come!

Looking Forward to the Weeeekend

It's Fridayyy, Fridayyy. :) I'm at work right now. It's really quiet in the office, as I am the only one here. And, obviously I'm not busy.

Right after work today I am heading up to Heber with the rest of the RS Presidency. We are going to a retreat for all of the ward RS Presidencies at a member of the stake RS presidency's cabin. It should be fun. I'll get home tomorrow afternoon and then I think I'll be seeing "The Lorax" again and going out to dinner with Christi, Mom, and Dad in celebration of Christi's birthday.

I'm so tired. Just throwing that out there. Looking forward to next Tuesday, when I have the day off and can actually get some sleep.

Have a good weekend, everyone!

Pondering

Two posts in one day?! Could it be true? Yes, yes it is.

I've finally had some time tonight to just be. I love that time. I love just pondering.

The CES Fireside tonight was broadcast from BYU-Idaho. It made
me homesick for BYU-I. I miss the campus, the people, and the temple there. That was a big part of my life.

I've also been missing my mission. That too, was a big part of my life.

Also, I'm missing California right now. My friend is serving in a town near Modesto. Reading her e-mails makes me homesick for the place I grew up. The blossoms are on the trees there.

And here I am in Lehi, Utah. Right where I'm supposed to be. I have amazing friends in my ward. My bishop and his wife are amazing. And, I get to live at home and save money until I get on my feet.

I am blessed. Life is good. Heavenly Father has a plan for my life.

My Crazy Life!

I like to make lists. It helps me stay somewhat organized, or at least make me feel organized. I realized how busy my life has become the other day when I found "paint nails" one of my "to-do" lists. Ha. That's kind of crazy!

I'm still transitioning into the "working world" and trying to figure out how to balance my time. It isn't easy. (I got 40 hours at work last week, by the way. happy about that.) :)

I just want to do everything. I am once again learning that I can't. There's only so much time in the day. It's just hard because I SO want to do everything! And, I'm trying, but I am becoming SO
tired. Here's my week this past week:
Monday-work, then FHE with the ward. Tuesday-work, then it was actually a free night- I did my laundry. Wednesday- work, then institute. Thursday- work, then RS visits. Friday- work, then getting together with some friends(we saw "The Lorax"-so good!!!). Saturday- trying to find new work clothes, which was completely exhausting- then hanging out with friends. And today, I have a presidency meeting this morning, church, and a fireside tonight.

I'm hardly ever home anymore. I pretty much just sleep here.

So, anyway, that's my life. I'm still figuring out how to best balance it. I'm hoping to schedule some time in tonight to paint my nails. Ha ha.

PS- I REALLY do have blog updates. Part of the reason (other than the fact that I am busy) I haven't done them yet is that my built in mouse on my laptop broke, so I have to buy a mouse so I can use the computer and upload pics.
